Archbishop Timothy P. Broglio Elected Chairman of the NCBC Board of Directors

BROOMALL, PA, September 8, 2026—The National Catholic Bioethics Center (NCBC) is pleased to announce that Archbishop Timothy P. Broglio, Archbishop for the Military Services, USA, was elected as the new chairman of its board of directors on June 9, 2026. “We are blessed to have the leadership and wisdom of Archbishop Broglio in this new role after his many years of service as a member of the board,” said Dr. John A. Di Camillo, President of the NCBC. 

Archbishop Broglio expressed his appreciation for the faithful work of the NCBC in serving the Church and in particular Catholic health care ministries and the bishops. “It is an honor to support the work of the NCBC which always places the dignity of the human person at the center of bioethical questions,” he said.  

Archbishop Gregory M. Aymond, Archbishop Emeritus of New Orleans and immediate past chairman of the NCBC board, welcomed his successor: “Archbishop Broglio brings a wealth of experience, including his recent tenure as president of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, to the chairmanship of the NCBC board. He will help guide the NCBC’s vital and highly appreciated work.”  

The NCBC was founded in December 1972 and since then has had numerous cardinals, archbishops, and bishops serving on its board of directors as well as distinguished lay persons. The NCBC works closely with the bishops, clergy, and Catholic religious, laity, and institutions in promoting faithful Catholic bioethics.
