Phil Tran joined the NCBC staff in August 2025 as their manager of ethics operations & resources. In this role, he manages the Center’s longstanding 24/7 free ethics consultation service, oversees its Fellows & Interns Program, serves as a staff ethicist, directs information technology, and ensures organizational integration and operational efficiency. Prior to this role, he fielded ethics consults as an NCBC personal consultations intern for over two years, overlapping with his previous six years of administrative and managerial experience in Catholic mission-driven nonprofits, including at the University of Notre Dame’s de Nicola Center for Ethics and Culture.
He graduated summa cum laude from Saint Vincent College with undergraduate degrees in philosophy and theology in 2020. He completed the Center’s National Catholic Certification Program in Health Care Ethics in 2022. He then went on to earn his MS in bioethics from the University of Mary in 2023 where he graduated magna cum laude and completed a capstone project addressing the inadequacies of principlism in end-of-life care.
He resides in the greater Pittsburgh area.
