The National Catholic Bioethics Center will be holding a special one-day seminar on September 23, 2008 on the beautiful grounds of Mater Dolorosa Passionist Retreat Center in Sierra Madre (Los Angeles), CA. The Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services will provide the framework for a series of presentations by nationally and internationally known speakers on topics of current importance in health care and research in the life sciences.
Health Care workers, clergy, chaplains, Catholic educators, pro-life workers and others will benefit from the day which will conclude with a panel discussion intended to bring the topics presented to issues particularly relevant to the state of California.

Continuing Education Credit Opportunities
Physicians:
Saint Francis Hospital & Medical Center is accredited by the Connecticut State Medical Society to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians. This Conference has been approved by Saint Francis Hospital & Medical Center for a maximum of 5.5 hours of Category 1 credit towards the AMA Physician's Recognition Award.
Objectives for the course are stated as follows:
- To enhance the interdisciplinary ability of physicians, across specialties, to present, analyze and resolve complex bioethical dilemmas encountered in clinical education, practice and research.
- To enhance the interdisciplinary abilities of health care providers, within their respective roles, to present, analyze and resolve complex bioethical dilemmas encountered in clinical education, practice and research.
Nurses:
This Continuing Nursing Education Activity was Approved by the Connecticut Nurses' Association, an Accredited Approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation 6.0 Contact Hours will be awarded.
To achieve these Contact Hours, attendees must sign in and attend all sessions, in their entireties, and complete the seminar evaluation forms.
